Re: moms noid
I had both FW and OBL in my previous garden. They were in very heavy shade, so I never had burn on either one. The FW was the better grower of the two.

Re: american revolution themed bed
I would break up all those similar looking green & white hostas in this list with plantings of Astilbe "Montgomery". It flowers a nice bold red, which would go along with your theme. I have mine next to my Patriot and it's a really nice combination. In a mass planting, that combination would be stun...

Re: bought a rescue Blue Cadet
I would email back and ask them for the name of the wholesaler and also by what means they are tested.
Saying they are "tested" could also mean a simple "visual inspection" for HVX. I would want more info.

Re: Our 2012 Hosta Project
There's nothing wrong with having all hostas! I did that for a long, long time before I started adding companion plants. It's hard to buy other plants when you have a hosta wish list going. Looks nice!

Re: 'Little Sunspot' sport
My Paul's Glory has a blue sport growing in it right now. Just haven't removed it yet. :???: (I hope it doesn't keep doing that.) It is a darker blue and wider leaf than the sport off OM. I have a Wheaton Blue somewhere in my garden. I'll have to compare them. I checked out images of Marmalade Toast...

Re: 'Little Sunspot' sport
JGH...I noticed some slightly wider margined leaves on my LS too. I think you can see a few of those on the original plant on my pics too. Once I started separating it, it was a bit confusing, as some of those slightly wider ones fooled me until I got finished and looked it over. Once I took a good ...

Re: Help ID plants that my dad (George Donsky) planted
28 was the one I was thinking was Heavenly Tiara, but I wrote 27. I thought all three pics (of 27 and 28) were of the same plant, but looking back at them 28 was the one I thought was HT.
I would agree that 27 looks like Grand Prize.

Re: Will Roundup kills cat tails?
I would not use Round Up. Even if the water is contained, I'm sure frogs and other little creatures use it. At our previous residence, we had a pond. My husband kept the cattails in check by going in and physically pulling them out. They have very long roots, but if you grasp them way at the bottom,...

Re: 'Little Sunspot' sport
My next project will be to divide this sport out of Orange Marmalade. OM is a sport of Paul's Glory, so this is not a reversion. It's a sport. I'm not overly excited about it, but it is a blue/green color. It appears that it might have an upright form. I'm thinking it would be sun tolerant, as it ha...

Re: 'Little Sunspot' sport
I successfully separated the sport from Little Sunspot tonight. All went well! I got a good amount of roots with it. Here is Little Sunspot on the left and the sport potted up on the right. It appears to be a slightly larger plant than LS. (I noticed a bit of LS in there yet after I took the picture...

Re: Jewel of the Nile sporting/reverting?
So after years of ignoring the situation, I finally rescued my Millie's Memoirs. Ignore the frost damage....but this is what Millie's Memoirs was looking like... http://i1156.photobucket.com/albums/p580/rockNhostas/MilliesMemoirsreverting.png?t=1340592880 So I removed the parts that reverted back to...

Re: What a difference a year makes!
I also have to post my Guardian Angel this year. Up until now, I was rather unimpressed with it. Then I almost lost it when we moved. It got quite small. I just never really paid much attention to it anymore, but the other day it finally grabbed my attention. It's really growing and getting pretty! ...
