Did you tip them well first hand or did they expect you to give a good tipping ?

Do not be offended, nothing wrong with tipping. In a lot of countries tipping is a big part of the salary...
Even here the staff works for tipping, they are paid in the low end

Whole frogs
Never seen ... but then why not, the legs are delicious if prepared well... like most food, but how did the rest of the frogs taste ?
