I love blue hosta

Post by jobranch »

A man that loves blue hosta - I admit it and I am not ashamed to say it. One of my best is the very common Halcyon. The attached picture shows the plant in it's second year. You can see a little of my Bressingham Blue in the background which is also looking good.

Wonderful pic! It really shows off that nice blue color and it does look fantastic with the red in the background! :D

Red Impatients

Post by jobranch »

Thanks for the comments. We are in an extreme drought in Central Alabama and it has been very tough on my impatients. This is the second year of drought and I probably won't plant them next year - except in some pots.

Very pretty! And I thought blue was a guy color! :D Those impatients don't look as drought ridden as many I've seen around town here in Michigan. It's been nasty on all annuals this year. I think the only ones doing 1/2 way decently are those that were put in shade and are sun lovers! :o

Drought

That picture was taken probably in May and they get the most shade. I have some more out of the picture to the left that look horible. I had some more that I had to just let die. Good news - the hostas in this bed still look good.

I love the blues too!! I too like the red behind it. We've had such hard heavy rains here that my Halcyon is green now.

I'd love to see a pic of your Bressingham Blue, too - and, btw, how do you distinguish BB from Elegans? Aren't they all but identical?
