Take a guess what hosta this is

This is what my Elegans looks like these days (that is Velvet the cat also in the photo). Last season, it was attacked by voles and I guess it is forever changed. What would cause this?

Here is the same hosta two years ago...

not forever... just for a period of years. The damage sent it back to early adolescence and the big blues can take a long time to come back to full size leaves and structure. I had some that had been mature that ended up looking like this for, I think, maybe 4-5 years before they were once more big blues...

Boy that's a shame. It's like going back to the starting point. I've heard that moving or dividing certain hosta can set them back, too, which is why I'm afraid to do so with certain ones. Thunderbolt will never be touched if I can help it.

Thanks for the replies. It is a shame since it was just starting to get some nice shape on it when the voles did their damage.
