Favorite spot in the garden

Post by Linda P »

This combo was really nice to look at last week. This is a volunteer seedling that I have named "Heavenly Sunshine",
along with Gull's Wing (I think!) siberian iris. It was just a cool and refreshing sight during the hot, humid days.
What's your favorite spot in the garden?

Yes, that does look cool and refreshing against the heat and humidity. Nice combo of everything. Your plants are in great care.

That is a lovely combo, Linda! I wish I had a bigger garden and room for some irises.

I think I have two equally favorite spots. One is half of the first bed I put in. I constantly move everything in my garden, but that is the one bed that has felt right to me almost from the beginning. The only change I made was recent, swapping out June for El Nino. This is probably the most colorful spot in my garden, and it always catches my eye from across the yard. The Heucheras don't love it in there, but I make them stay because I can't give up that peach color..Everything else seems happy enough. Hosta are Remember Me, Love Pat, and El Nino. Behind Love Pat are maidenhair ferns and white astilbe (bridal veil) which should bloom in the next few weeks.

My other favorite combo is this spot. I just like the curve and all the different shapes and textures here. And I love the view of Regal Splendor from below.

Noreaster, I can see why you are drawn to those two spots. One is so colorful, the other peaceful. I really love the hardscape you have in your garden.
Anyone else have a favorite spot to add?

This is one of my favorite spots. I can see everything else from the bench. The kids sandbox is also next to the bench.

Hosta - Silver Bay Still really like this one.

Noreaster and Steg, those are some very lovely spots!

Noreaster, I adore 'Regal Splendor'--that garden spot of yours looks amazing, and it's the crowning glory. Mine is decent sized, but nothing like that. I'm a big fan of vase-shaped hostas, though, and the vantage point in your photo really shows off the structure of 'Regal Splendor.'

Karen, your RS will be there before you know it. I have two that have both been terrific growers for me. I am also partial to the vase shaped ones and only wish I had more room for them.

Steg, love that Silver Bay. Once again, wish I had the room because I'm out of space, but I've been thinking about that one for a while now.

That is a really nice Silver Bay! I just got it last year, so mine is small, but so very beautiful in color.

Here's another favorite spot. I can see this from my kitchen window. That Elatior back there is just
enormous this year, and yes, it's just one plant. It was a teeny, tiny TC liner when I planted it there
ten years ago this summer.
