I got this hosta from my parents about 5 years ago--it was the first one planted when we moved in. The clump is about 4 1/2' across--leaves are about 12"x 9+". Most of the leaves are upturned, not domed. Any help will be appreciated!!

Re: Help with an ID--Big Blue
Hi there,
I'd say from the flowers, leaf shape, color, and habit that it could be Hosta 'Bressingham Blue'. This is probably the most common plant that would match these pictures. Now, if your parents are serious collectors with hundreds of different cultivars it could be something else, but if they just have a handful of unknown plants then Bressingham Blue would be my guess.
You can compare it to some other pictures on the hosta library: http://hostalibrary.org/b/bressblue.html

Is that flower clustering normal for this plant? Or just a random fused scape.

Re: Help with an ID--Big Blue
Can I change my mind? After seeing the much larger pictures you posted on GardenWeb, vs. going by the description, I really think this is Blue Umbrellas. The leaves are smoother and many do cup downwards so it looks a lot more like Blue Umbrellas.
Re: Help with an ID--Big Blue
Yes, you can!!! I guess I can dig up, divide and sell my other BU that I bought a few years ago!!! Thanks for the ID!!
I'm not sure how to post the pics so they can be enlarged on here?
