what an amazing site, discovered through the HOSTA Library,
A little introduction now Im from Britain and have been growing Hosta for many years Due to a recent move now have only a small number and all in pots due to no garden now. yes my collection is getting bigger all the time constantly adding different varieties every time I visit a garden cntre of flower show. My most recent aquisition being Praying Hands and Summer Breeze (at a DIY chain for 99p).

Thank you for the welcome so wish I had a proper garden there again when I did and my hosta became bigger and more established I was forever digging them out and moving them about to suite placing better ha perhaps hosta in pots aren't that bad, Hopefully may be able to show pics soon

Sounds like my city garden before we moved to the country. Left behind some great soil, though, after years of enriching it every time we moved a hosta!

Where in the U.K. are you? Interesting climate zones there.

I'm in Lancashire North west area Cold winters medium summers very variable as a guide if it helps about 30 miles form Manchester Northwards
My last grden was full of stable manure seaweed and compost that was very North west in Cumbria Barrow in Furness/ Walney Island, a micro climate from the seas there. not as exposed where I am now and as I said earlier all in pots.

Hello Mark,

Mine were mostly in pots, very small backyard. Welcome to the forums. I am new to hosta as well, I've known hosta for long, just recently that I wanted to collect them.

Now add to my list Minute man my Partiot certinly isnt a Patriot aureo margined not whit hope my Minute man turns out to be that not a Patrios I prefer Minute man/ beetor coloured and from what I remember faster growing and nicer.
