Very nice! My 'Sagae' is finally starting to unfurl a bit, but it's the first one--everything else is still pips, but making steady progress. It's been a slow year, so it's nice to see other gardens that are further along than mine.

Your pictures look a little hazy. Is it humid, or just a camera lens fog?

The No ID looks like it could change as the season progresses. Can you remember where you got it or if it was an expensive hosta? I am tempted to say it may be a F auromarginata but a lot of yellow margined look similar when they first emerge.

It looks a lot like what my 'H. Christmas Tree' looks like.

I remember where I got this one about 7 years ago-the seller doesn't have my account history back that far. I will check out the Hosta Library for look a like and see if the names ring a bell. Christmas Tree does not ring any bells for me. Thanks for the suggestion.

If you have Picasa3 loaded - process the photo thru the 'I'm Feeling Lucky' function...does a nice job with haze.

Yes! I love Picasa. I have Photoshop Elements, but I find that I end up using Picasa a lot of the time because it's quick, easy, and does a good job fine-tuning my photos.

But how do you post on this forum from Picasa? I tried it and yes you can fine tune the pics but I can't figure out how to post them on here. :hmm:

I upload the image to any online service. Picasa will automagically upload them to any Google/Gmail account you're using -- just click the "Share on Google+" button and log into an account. Once you've done that:

1. Right click on any photo you want to share
2. Select "Copy image location" (in Firefox. It's similar in other browsers.)
3. In your forum post, click the little "Img" button. Two image tags will appear with your cursor in between.
4. Hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard and type V to paste the image URL you copied

That's all there is to it. :)

The changes are just in Picasa until you either save changes or (what I usually do) export to desktop from Picasa any picture I'm going to upload. The exported pics automatically have the changes and also makes it easy to find (desktop folder) so I don't have to hunt down when I upload to photobucket.

Then after I have uploaded pics, I delete the extra exported pic/folder on the desktop.....the original was never moved, so it still in whatever folder I was editing it in.

You can also undo edits in Picasa which is nice for trying different effects or edits, i.e. I might crop a photo to a tighter shot of a particular hosta for sharing - export it with crop and upload - then go back and remove crop on original.

You probably shouldn't even get us started on camera recommendations.

But, since I'm now started...I love my Panasonic Lumix. I have the FZ-40, which is their pro-sumer or "bridge" camera (a camera with a lot of DSL features and a built-in 24X zoom), and a little pocket DMC-FH20. They're awesome, with great image quality.

(It occurs to me that we're off-topic. Ann will come in here and scold us if we don't start a separate thread and get this one back on track. ;) )
