I spotted this at a local nursery, where this pot (and one other) of Gold Regal had wintered over (very faded tags).
So: scary, meh, or interesting? The mutation is subtle but unlike anything I've seen on a Gold Regal before. It may just be some effect of weather/nursery conditions and not a permanent mutation. The other pot showed a trace of this (more like the division at the lower left of this pic).

Did you check the MyHostas database at the Hosta Library for possibilities (similar sports already on record)?

It doesn't seem to match anything when I cross-refernce the database to HL pics (e.g. 'cloud Nine' or 'Thanksgiving'). The creamy-white jetting is unique, similar to the look of 'Mango Tango'. I'll check it out in a week or so if I can get back to that nursery.

You mean you did not buy it? What is wrong with you, David?

No, I didn't buy it. I'm still thinking it may be some kind of stress as Chris mentions in the Empress Wu post. And I already have a couple of big Gold Regals (one of which has been throwing up a streaky eye).
