I think that could be normal for any hosta. So many times have I seen several just come up and sulk for a few years then all of a sudden........ BANG

It might not be ready yet this year. Mine are just now starting to put up scapes but they haven't shown above the leaves yet. But also it can take a little time to settle in before they flower. I would also say that S & S needs a lot of deep moisture to flower well, but that probably isn't a problem this year.

As earlier and as Chris said it's just a matter of time. I suppose it depends on how mature the plant was when first aquired. So many times have some of mine been great for a few years then odd year just come up and sulk.

I got it from Chris and it was quite large when I got it, I think it was a 2nd or 3rd year plant. I think its just sulking like you said. I have plants that I got that were only 1st year and they got flowers. It was also late to show up this spring.

Something just hit me: I have two good sized ones - the one that gets more direct sun flowers better. It's not mid-day sun just some afternoon sun.

AHHA-that must be it, mine get little to no sun in the morning and some in the very late afternoon during summer after all the trees fill out. Every other hosta in that garden area already flowered-Ultramarine, Stirfry, Big Daddy, Lionheart and Devils Advocate. I have another S&S but it is much younger and smaller which didn't flower either. Oh well there is always next year!
