Pic of the Day--Lakeside Kaleidoscope

Post by Hank Zumach »

Hi All--I got Lakeside Kaleidoscope in 2001 and have it planted in a spot that might get an hour of direct sun. For the first three years in particular, I found the foliage to be attractive and interesting. That has been true for the last two years also but the the plant has started to lose its edges by the end of June and became quite ragged by the end of last season. Its measurements in the four years beginning in 2002 were 7x16, 7x22, 12x31, and 10x26. It's registration size, as listed in Lemke's Database, is 8x15. The plant needs slug protection.

I'm afraid I gave her that idea a few years ago. LOL There is a grocery store parking lot right next to her property. She was running out of places to plant hostas so I suggested she borrow some of the shopping carts & plant them up.

I'm with Pia, this is one I'd never have ordered from photos, but received one in a trade, and I love it. Mine still looks good, as do a surprising number of hostas, even after a hard killing frost.

Lakeside Kaleidoscope was never on my wish list, but I picked it up because it looked nice in person. It looks even better this year:
