Sport looking for a name PART 2
NOTE: THIS POLL IS NOW CLOSED. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR FEEDBACK
=======================
I'm narrowing down the field of names suggested for our dark centered Radiant Edger sport and need your feedback. Although the results may not be binding, it will help us out.
Please don't feel bad if your suggestion didn't make the list, all the input was a lot of fun

Hi Richelle,Richiegirl wrote:I thought "Star" names were chosen as a family by Leafy. I think we should leave those to him. Lord knows he has enough new ones that will be needing names!

This was mentioned on the other thread where we talked about these and we asked Mr. Leafmould and he said that it was okay.
Even though the name may be boring I think Radiant Star really fits the hosta, ties in with its parentage (good or bad), and is easy to spell, fit on a label, and will probably be easy to remember.
But then Mint Martini is nice, gives this plant its own uniqueness without tying it to the parent, and doesn't interfere with the star reference that Mr. Leafmould likes.
After seeing the results so far we will probably have a runoff between those two names
Count me in for Mint Martini (hosta Gin and Tonic needs a tippling buddy)

Remember those threads about which Hosta people bought just for the name? I think 'Mint Martini' would definitely be one of those (in addition to its great attributes!). It would also give the sport its own identity, as opposed to "just" a 'Radiant' offshoot. Also, I'd leave the 'Star' designation to Mr. Leafmould-- just as I'd not suggest using a name with 'Tiara' in it-- so as not to give the wrong impression as to whom the originator was.
Very nice hosta, Chris. I like having a hint of the parentage in the name of sports in particular. No shame at all in showing who your kin are (like Wilson is from son of Will, right? ). And the light flash in the center of some of the leaves is very similar to the flash of a star sapphire. 'Radiant Star' gets my vote, no contest.
