Another great batch of photos, Dirk!! :P I especially like the leaf detail for 'Praying Hands' - very nice. That one is always difficult for me to photograph as a whole plant. Your 'Pandora's Box' pic is very good too. :P

I'm curious about how old your 'Old Glory' is. I've had mine since 2002, but I don't remember the leaves of mine ever being that narrow.

And I didn't realize that Ran Lydell's 'Polecat' had any green flecks in the white center. :o  I've just seen whole plant pics before. I think that one just went a little higher on my wishlist.

I collect Boyd's Bears and I have tried to get bears with our names. Never thought about hosta....

H.Pole Cat is indeed a very nice Hosta. The green flecks in the white are occasional. The plant is similar to H.White Bikini and H.Risky Business.

Thanks, Dirk - I have been to Jim's when his garden was featured on the Midwest Regional Convention garden tour in 2004. There are lots of beautiful, well-grown hostas in his collection. We're both in Iowa but I'm at least 6 hours away from Dubuque where Jim is located.

I do have Risky Business already so I'll have to make do with it for now.

OK, last time I say this tonight...More Great Photos Dirk! Thanks so much for sharing.

Paul's Glory is sure a beautiful hosta. The longer I have it the prettier it gets!

Pandora's Box is a cute little thing too! And it really grows good for a mini!

Popcorn & Pole Cat are really neat. Tell me more about them please!

Claudia, let me get this straight. You get Boyd's Bears with your names, but never thought to do that with hostas? You must be a beginner! We use any excuse we can come up with to get a new hosta!

First you use all the immediate family's names, then branch out to cousins, uncles, aunts, grannies, friends, then you'll have to make a pet bed with all their names.

Then hobbies, like one of mine is Star Trek. I have Capt. Kirk of course, and since Dirk showed me Enterprise I'll have to get it. Then I stretch it a bit & get one with a Japanese name to represent Sulu since I can't find a Sulu, or a Russian sounding one for Chekov, etc.

Then you have to get all the same ones, like all the Tiaras, Golden Tiara, Diamond Tiara, Grand Tiara etc. etc.

Helen does anything with dragon in the name. I have the reptile series, Komodo Dragon, Alligator Shoes & Reptillian. There are many many more excuses, I'm just having brain freeze at the moment & can't think of any more.

I see you live in Putnam County. I live in Logansport, which is about 90 miles north of Indy. Howdy fellow Hoosier!

Hi Ellen, so i read you're also a Star Trek Fan.
Well, so am i.
My own Hostas are named to Star Trek ideas.
If you look to this page from my website > http://www.hostadream.be/eigenintroducties.htm you see them all.
Just H.Trixi is named to my first dog and H.Fat Boy is named by my friend Danny from Hostacollectie.
All the rest you most see it.

Hi Dirk,
I've finally had the time to sit down and go through all of your alphabet postings, so far, and I also have to compliment you on the beautiful pics! They truly are stunning! I've written down numerous hostas that you have shown and added them to my ever-growing wish list.
I hadn't heard of some of them....like Neelix. I sure do love those red pets! Thanks for taking the time to post all of these for us and I am looking forward to seeing the rest of the series. :D

Wow, you make your own hostas too! Your Star Trek hostas are all pretty cool, but you should have named Dax after one with spots, like a reverse Revolution. Gold pressed latinum is cool, but they are all!
