Vote : Favorite Hosta on the forum?

Post by sugar »

I would like to know what hosta is the favourite of this forum. So let's find that out.
I suggest that everyone posts his "top 10 Hosta List' (let's stick to commercially available hosta's), I will do the math afterwards and update the ranking regularly.
We could get a nice shopping list out of it ;)

There are more then 43 active members on the fourm KEEP ON VOTING please

You don't need to own/breed the plants...

Current rankings :

Standings after 43 votes... Sagae is in the lead, June in second place. The gap between 2nd and 3rd place is impressive.
Blue Mouse Ears is still in third place, Kiwi Full Monthy in 4th.

Do we have to own the plants, and be growing them? or also include plants we wish we had? I will start thinking about this.

I edited the 'rules' : you can choose a Hosta you don't own...

Always hard to do, but I seem to usually come up with mostly the same batch each time. I just went with ones I already have & am thinking what they looked like this last year. It's hard to narrow it down from the top 20 or 25 though.

Here's my Top Ten list [for today anyway] in alphabetical order:

Bridegroom
Collector's Banner
Dream Weaver
June
montana 'Aureomarginata'
Old Glory
Pizzazz
Silk Kimono
Spring Fling
Summer Breeze

[Blue Mouse Ears, Deep Blue Sea, Fragrant Dream, Pandora's Box, Regal Splendor, & Sagae could just as easily have been in there too.....I've already switched 3 out of the top 10 already. LOL]

Top ten

In alphabetical order because I would be here all night if I tried to rank them:

Blue Mouse Ears
Guacamole
Paul’s Glory
Kiwi Full Monty
Krossa Regal
Liberty
Moonlight
Moonlight Sonata
Sagae
Shade Fanfare

I stuck with ones I actually own so my brain wouldn't short circuit.

I'll go off the top of my head... and not use up all 10 votes right away because my memory is like swiss cheese...

not ranked... but I couldn't live without...

June

Touch of Class (I never thought a hosta might replace June in my #1 spot, but maybe...)

Kiwi Full Monty (I started with Striptease, but I really do think this is an improvement... but if I had more votes, good ole' Striptease would be on my list, too...)

Guacamole (I know... people are enamoured of Stained Glass... but darnit, it just doesn't grow as easily or big and lush as Guacamole for me...)

Tattoo (yeah... I know... but its GREAT for me!)

Abba Dabba Do (people, people, people... don't you get it??? 6 foot diameter, 4 feet tall, fast, easy, cute name... should be a centerpiece in any hosta garden... why isn't this on more lists???!!!)

Sagae

Fortunei Aureomarginata (got to have one bulletproof old standard!)

[and saving 2 votes for later!]
