Nifty gadget

Post by leafmould »

I bought this light meter last week. I read about it a while back and wondered how good it could be for only twenty-nine bucks Canadian ( that's seven bucks U.S). Decent light meters can run hundreds especially those that are gauged for plant growth.

This devise is great !! it is light powered, so no batteries needed. Great for checking artificial lighting to see where hot spots are or where light is inadequate for seedling growth.
Time to change your lamps ?
Amazing how light levels drop off a few inches from tube lighting. Compare your artificial light levels to find a suitable place for them when its time to leave the house.
Compare your window sill to your tube lights !
This could be useful for outside hosta as well, studying plant placement, growth under different light factors.
This meter does not gauge the quality of light, just intensity, but still I think it is a useful tool.
this is a solid well made device, amazing for such a cheap price !
made for 'Hydrofarm'

Leafy, how do you know if it's accurate? Can you run some tests vs. another meter you might borrow?

Cool :P Even if the readings aren't exact, I would think it would tell you that spot "A" is brighter/better/worse than spot"B". I'm gonna see if I can find me one of them gadgets this week.
Thanks for the tip! :D
