Buds and Blooms

Post by leafmould »

:P Back down the dungeon today for some pics.
Nothing is blooming outside and almost everything is blooming inside.
Is there anyone else out there breeding to enhance hosta flowers ? Am I all alone..trapped in a dungeon ?
I think many are discouraged by the fact that you have to wait for a seedling to bloom before culling and need lots of space to do that.
The good side is that once you decide to keep a seedling because of the bloom, the flower does not change much as the plant matures.
I've picked three favourites of the day, showing bud and bloom, here is the first, this is a large flower,

Hi Reldon :P this flower just glows and was very difficult to capture with a digi. The tepals/petals have a two tone colour' a paler shade mid riff. I always try to choose a pic that is closest to the actual flower. thanks for looking

Blooms

Post by wzbt03 »

Most of my interesting flowers are yet to show in the seedlings. I have one of my Akane ready to show off soon and a bunch more on the way along with some kokuryu seedlings coming too.

So yes, others are chasing interesting blooms too.

Thanks guys :P this flower shimmers with iridescence and tricks the camera making it unable to settle on a spot and focus.
Heres a macro showing the midriff, and the best frontal I could get :P

keep up the good work Leafy.... Flowers have not been something that I've purposefully set as a goal.... though your efforts give me reason to reconsider that position. I've only played with the poly's.... no luck yet.

Hostas have always been a foliage plant with a bloom an added plus. It is so good to see that you are working on making the bloom special, too!! This one is beautiful!
