Hosta 'Hadspen Blue'

Within the blue Hosta's, competetion is fierce over here. 'Blaue Venus' was last year my favourite, but 'Hadpsen Blue' deserves a price for 'starting in style', after the gorgeous noses, we get a very nice spectacle of converging lines...

Thanks for posting this one. I have one hypoleuca seedling that looks just like it and I have been trying to think of what the seedling looked like.

While the first Hadspen blue has unfurled its leaves, the one besides is not that far... in my garden without any doubt the nicest 'noses' ...

The name of this hosta has always puzzeled me because mine never looked particularly blue until this spring when it did develop somewhat of a blue cast.
I followed the link to the Hosta Library and the pictures there show varying degrees of blueness. My HB gets only early morning sun. Does anyone know whether the blueness is a product of age? I planted mine in 2007. I extended the bed behind HB last year and planted some seedlings that I found in the vicinity of August Moon and Sun Power.

Mine came to me as a local trade in July/08, a NOID at the time. For a while I thought it was 'Blue Wedgwood', but when I saw a shot of that in bloom, it became clear that was not what it is. I'm quite certain I have it correctly identified. It's a favourite of mine, a good grower, sets seed easily and it has a great colour!

Here it is a little earlier this year, behind it are 'Fragrant Blue' in the middle, left 'Lemon Lime' and right 'Clear Fork River Valley'

Hadspen Blue was one of the first hosta to go into my garden after we cleared the "raw" woods out. That was 2008.
It's still in the same spot. I don't remember catching it in flower before.
