LIBERTY--unfolding

This is the most amazing hosta I've ever seen......I watched it coming up from the surface in points, and it resembled expensive canned white asparagus until it started unfolding, as only the cream edges could be seen. Even at the point stage one could not keep their eyes off of it.

Even at this immature stage it's already 12 inches.

This may be the best hosta of all time........

beautiful, mal! I haven't seen mine yet. It was new last year. I hope it was still hiding under the ground and not one that got frozen. I don't remember exactly where I put it last year...I'll have to get out my maps.

I'm evaluating 'Magic Fire' vs 'Liberty'. They are both Sagae 'blood', the one is a bit more Yellow, the other has a more creamish edges... Both are superb , that's for sure

Night before last, I got another red alert about 9pm for a frost warning from 2am-5am......ran out and got Liberty and m. Aureomarginata pots and had been putting them in the Garage......but this time after so many other nights, I just brought it into the Living Room.......at least I remembered to take it back outside the next morning. I don't know how many nights I've played this musical garages game.

This afternoon, I sit down to check my email, and I look up and it was hailing! Despite it was starting out small, I ran out and grabbed Liberty one more time, and it's now sitting beside me by the computer.

I am determined and probably a little crazy?

Cute story, Mal! Dr. Sugar is probably right, I think, at least if you don't sleep with your hostas more than 50% of the time!

Hey, whatever it takes to keep it safe, Mal! Yours is gorgeous, mine will at best probably have frost damage and some warping. I'm really tempted to buy another one and keep it in a pot!

My tip : buy 'Magic Fire' instead of a second 'Liberty'. While the differences are small, I have a slight preference for MF at the moment , it are still young plants however... And you get another plant in your collection

Both Sagae sports, but Magic Fire has a deep yellow variegation, Sagae is more creamy. On top of that, Magic Fire leave is more weavy. It are still young plants over here, but if I had to keep only one , it would probably be the magic fire
