I have lots of seedlings to play with so I decided to do an experiment two weeks ago.
I took one seedling - F1 Niagara Falls which had been in my outdoor unheated greenhouse for a week and planted it.
Since planting it we have had at least three nights below freezing and some good and bad weather.
It is doing great. Guess they are not such babies after all.
I also was culling some very small - 2 / 3 leaf Spacious Skies F1's and rather then throw them away - yep, I planted them outside the same day. They were not an inch tall or wide yet.
I put about 10 in a put exposed to the elements and 10 in a pot under the roof overhang.
Well the 10 that were exposed, died that first frosty morning (no surprise) the others are growing like crazy.
Both lots come directly from 24/7 under lights to the out of doors.
Yes its fun to play but these results probably mean very little . Just a little fun.

I am sure those sorts of experiments will help us in the long run.
And the use of cullings is a great idea

I did the same thing. When potting up the larger seedlings, any that turned green, and were attractive, I put into pots. I had them in the garage that first night, and at the edge to get some light the first days after. The kids kept knocking them over getting their bikes, so out they went. They have been fine ever since as long as I watered them on the warm days we had. They are green seedlings from the streaked sea lotus leaf seeds I have been growing.
