Here I was thinking of hostas with Morning in the name.. first thought was Morning Light.. think mine have decided, morning light is too sharp for the eyes this year - stay under cover
And Then it was jst you saying Good Morning to your hostas
Lovely pics, the English Sunrise really gloves.. good to see h. June, my first one is unfurling, Grand Tiara is a beauty and yes Gold Regal wasn't my first or 30 thoughts
Do I have that many thoughts
Never mind
They look great,- enjoy

Pia - I won't comment on how many thoughts you have ~ although you seem to always have several.
I'd show you my Morning Light, but it seems to be one of the few that isn't going to be growing in my garden anymore. No sign of it anyway... And I just noticed this morning that On Stage is up a couple of inches already so I'm thinking I've seen my last of Morning Light. Just as well since it kept getting smaller while the ones around it kept getting bigger.

Reynaldo,
I read somewhere that Antioch and Moerheim are the same plant. Do you know if this is true and if so which is the proper name to use? I have Moerheim and want to know if I should re-label it Antioch.
Thanks!

My goodness, Ren! Aren't they all so beautiful!!
I'm sorry to say that I lost my Morning Light last year. Such a lovely hosta, but I have heard that it can be difficult.
You're about two weeks ahead of us , I think. Mine are just starting to unfurl. I was out this weekend and today looking around and digging up some that seemed to have succumbed to the infamous crown rot. I gave them all a bath in bleach water. .....let them dry a bit and then sprinkled them with rooting compound before potting them up. I'm hoping to save at least a few of them.

Thy,
I was on the Hosta Library and saw nothing under Antioch or Moerheim. Is there another place to look there??

Thanks for the nice comments everybody.
Molly - Antioch is one of the truly old hostas. According to Mark Zilis in "The Hosta Handbook", it was 'originally developed by Cynthia Tompkins in the 1920's'. And 'it has been sold under a variety of names including Hosta fortunei aureo-marmorata, 'Mooerheimii' & 'Spinners'. But it was registered in 1979 by Peter Ruh for Paul Hofer [who discovered 'Paul's Glory']. Very confusing - at best.... I've also read that 'Antioch' is named for Antioch Road which I believe is the name of the road where Paul Hofer's nursery is located. [I'll have to read what's in the Hosta Library under 'Mooerheimii' again. I know I have but not recently.]
At any rate it's been around for a long time. I've got both hostas. And it's a nice hosta no matter which name it has. I would just keep them labelled the way they were when you got them. Part of the fun of hostas is all of the confusion over naming, etc. back in the early days. Just adds to the mistique...

Thanks Renaldo, I'll do that! Works best too cause I'm use to calling it Moerheim anyway. Any name it's still a beaut!

Very nice pictures - My Morning Light appears to be doing well so I will include it on this post once it comes up a bit more.

Thanks, WZBT. Glad to hear that your Morning Light is doing well, but it seems to be in the minority among those that have mentioned it here. It'll be good to see one that is beating the odds. I had thought I'd eventually plant mine somewhere near Twilight, [jgh's influence ] but that won't be happening now...
