Is this 'Wide Brim' "normal"? (pic)

This is my 3rd or 4th year with this 'Wide Brim' -- for some odd reason it was my last hosta up this year, and when the leaves unfurled they looked pretty funky. It's never been corrugated before, and some of the leaves look like they suffered frost damage and were very gnarled... overall weird coloration.

Is this a "normal" appearance for 'Wide Brim'? I was wondering if there could be some virus at play (not HVX though)?

Mine did the same thing this year.... I chalked it up to Hosta puberty

ok, thanks. I guess I'll stop worrying about it then. It's such a drastic change in appearance, but I guess that's how it is with hostas.

This one seems to be tempermental to any cold after the buds have breached the soil. Mines has done this for a couple of years too.

LOL at Spider!!!

I just checked the photos at Hosta Library and was surprised to see that it does indeed *pucker*! It sure took its time.

I definitely like this hosta better than before, especially now that I know it should be doing this.

It has so much more 'character'.
