Give us your bloom report

Post by Seedseller1 »

From memory (too lazy to look it up, lol) I think my first crosses last year were the 2nd or 3rd of June. This year I have a few scapes appearing but only Golden Sculpture has opened a flower so far, and nobody seems really anxious to get the ball rolling. My potted Rick Rack is seriously thinking about blooming but the one in the ground isn't showing a sign of a scape, and maybe it won't this year. From Charla's earlier post about cutting scapes, I'm guessing she has some coming along in Kansas, but what stage is everybody else at? I didn't reply to the post about the leafy scapes this year, but did notice it seems more abundant than normal. Where are you in the bloomin' stage?

Hey Jeff!

I'm assuming that is a Willy Lachman seedling, but I haven't figured out the "BBB". Forgot to mention that I had a couple "evaluation" seedlings throw up scapes but the deer snacked on them--nothing special--so not a problem. Did you pollinate that one, or leave it for the bees?

Hi Mike,
Yes WL is 'William Lachman' and BBB is 'Beer Belly Blues'. The seed is from Hostarod. It is his cross. This pic is from a few weeks ago.

Looks like Great Expectations is the first established plant to bloom this year. Very lovely with its cream-colored scapes. Usually Colossal is first, but it got moved this year and may be sulking a bit.

Out on the Left Coast I have Lemon Delight in bloom, Golden Tiara is heavily budded and should be open today/tomorrow, BME is budding up nicely, S&S is putting up scapes, as is one of my new Dream Weavers, but nothing thus far on my Elegans or Dream Queen, not even a sign of a developing scape.....yet.

My new little Mayan Moon has blooms on her. Very cute little thing.

And my Francee's have several that are about to bloom any day. Looks like I may have 7-8 scapes on the bigger girl. Cant wait....they are always so pretty by the front door. :D

(would have some pics...but the batteries in the digicam died this morning!)
