Fragrant Fire

Post by jobranch »

This is my latest addition - H. Fragrant Fire. I bought it at a local hosta show. I can't remember ever seeing it for sale on the internet. It is somewhat large and has red at it's base. Has not bloomed yet, so not sure what to expect as far as fragrance.

I picked this one up late season last year for a couple bucks as a little 1st year plant and planted it, it was one of the last ones to come in this year, and then forgot about it.

Your picture made me take another look.

I got mine from Chris in fall of 2005, awesome fragrant plant and the second flush in late season has a lot of white streaking of the margin. Comes out of Regal Rhubarb x Plantaginea heritage, hence the red petioles.

Fragrant Fire is a sport of Olga's Old Faithful so it should get pretty large eventually.

Fragrant Fire in my back garden. It's survived voles and chipmunks and a pine tree falling on it (not really - the tree fell and the plant survived being stomped on as the debris was removed).
