Post by dmi188 »

Do all laevigata seedlings look so much like the parent plant?

Were the seeds OP? I've heard that most OP's are self pollinated...

laevigata x laevigata = laevigata

They probably were. I did try some crosses, but don't remember which were which. :oops: They all look pretty much the same.

I've used this one before and had simular results. It doesnt seem to take the glaucous waxes very well. I've considered using it as the pollen parent to see if it makes a difference?

Update on this seedling...obviously it really is a cross. The flowers bloomed a bit later, are larger, lighter purple, and a bit less spidery.

Hmmm. If we divide out laevigata and solve for it...

laevigata = laevigata/laevigata

So, they cancel each other. Thus:

laevigata = 1

Wait, now I'm totally confused.

:lol: I thought that was one of the easier conversations involving hostas lately! My head didn't spin around one time! :lol:
