August 5th Hosta Hybridizers Group Meeting

Post by Jaspersail »

Ever wonder what happens when you apply pollen to a hosta? At our August 5th meeting, Dr. Richard Gladon of Iowa State University will speak on the mechanics of hosta pollination and potential ways to improve pollination rates and seed set. All are invited!

The August 5th meeting will also feature our summer hosta auction. In addition to plants brought by HHG members, we have a collection of special breeders ('Fickle Blue Genes', 'Cajun Sunrise', 'Monty Python', and others) and intros from Ed Elslager for auction. If that weren't enough, Amy Bergeron of Walters Gardens is bringing some streaked sports of Summer Music, Sum and Substance, Hadspen Blue and Blue Umbrellas ('Blue Lightning'). Bob Solberg is coming and may even surprise us with a plant or two.

Lots of reasons to attend! See the more details in the next post.

Thanks, John
