A bird? A plane? No it's bigger!

Post by HostaDesigner »

I leaned over to pollinate a flower this morning and gigantic hummingbird moth decided to push me out of the way at the very last second. Of course, it had to fly an inch from my ear and scare the crap out of me. It was pretty cool to sit back and watch it finish its work this morning. I hadn't seen one in a while.

Aren't they amazing? :o I saw my first one last year in Portage, MI - not too far from where you are!

Insects are a marvel!

I just love watching them!

I am just amazed when a ballsy little hummingbird smaller than my thumb tries to drive me out of a garden bed when I am weeding and getting in his way! Feel sort of like King Kong getting buzzed by planes (hehe).

It was very cool after it scared the BEEP out of me. Wasn't expecting to have something fly within inches of my face and not really know what it was. I first thought what the heck is a hummer doing out that late at night, but after getting the camera and taking a few pictures I realized it wasn't a hummer.. Very Cool Insect Indeed!!!

They are a lot of fun to watch and not very bashful.

This is one in my Lavendar Hyssop.

That is neat! I don't think I have ever seen one.
I have some pretty pushy hummingbirds at my house :o
They will buzz me at the feeder and around the plants. I have to remind them who keeps those plants alive and fills that feeder from time to time  Ungrateful little things

The first time I saw one, I nearly had a panic attack and thought it was going to sting me or something

I planted "The Wave" in mass this year, and they do fight ya for a spot in the garden  My grandson think's it's the biggest bug  he's only 3 and so much braver than I was the first time I saw it.
What a wonderful little creation
