Pic of the Day--Love Pat

Post by Hank Zumach »

Hi All--Hostaphiles considering adding Love Pat to their collection can expect an attractive, rugose, cupped, blue variety with good slug resistance. Researching the expected size will give you lots of choices. The Hosta Library gives two choices, "medium" and 16x14. If you have a bigger space to fill you can use Mark Zilis' listing of 40x19 or Marv Lemke's registration information of 50x21. Isn't it great to have a hobby that gives you such a nice range of options? :o  :D The plant in our Friendship Garden measured 17x10 both years but, as shown in the photos, had a nice increase.

Nice!

Kind of reminds me of my Edward Wargo except I notice Love Pat leaves pucker up where as Edward Wargo pucker down. Sorry it's a bad picture of the color camera error, it actually blue in color! Sorry about the stuff all over the leaves just treated the area for earwigs, hate them and this time of the year if I don't treat they try to come in the house!

Tigger, that's beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How old is it and can you give it a measure? If mine is going to get to Lemke's 50 inches, I'll have to move it!

Hank and Tigger your Love Pats are gorgeous :)
Like Pia my LP doesn't thrive either but I have no problem with Abiqua Drinking Gourd, supposedly similar.
Carol I hadn't heard of Edward Wargo before. I like seeing pix of seldom seen varieties!
