Pic of the Day--El Nino

Post by Hank Zumach »

Hi All--For some time now, and continuing for about another month, I have been describing the plants in our Friendship Garden. All of the plants in the Friendship Garden were gifts to Betty and me following a very serious vandalism attack on our garden in 2006. That is the reason many of the plants have been young and not fully developed. However, today's plant, El Nino, is already approaching mature size. This sport of Halcyon has the great blue coloring of its sport parent plus a white edge that combine to make a real attention grabbing treat. Our plant was an amazing 26x7 when it arrived and grew to 29x9 this year. That puts it very near the 30x20 listed for a mature plant.

Some shots over the years. I got this hybrid of Halcyon in 2009. It sits in shade all day.
