Hi All--There are some hostas that really appeal to me but I don't have the vocabulary to describe to others why. That is the case with Lakeside Shore Master. It has a certain quality that I find attractive but adjectives do not come to mind so you'll have to come up with your own. Growing in our Friendship Garden, it measured 18x11 in 2006 and 22x11 this past summer. That puts it close to the registration size of 26x12 but the Hosta Library also gives its size as medium to large. Time will tell how it does in our garden but I'm sure it will look good all the while.
Lakeside hostas seem to have a quality about them that separates them from others. With Lakeside Shore Master, it has great color and a very upright form - a great hosta. Another favorate of mine is Lakeside Cha Cha. This will be one of my first purchases next year.
Okay, now I know! For some reason it seems like each time I saw or heard anything about the Lakeside hosta they were big ones! Of course all of them look big till I try to grow them! I wish southern hosta would get as big as northern
I think it as Jamie who showed a pic of his plant..and it was medium... after a look at mine in the spring I dug it up, sadly damaged a lot of roots, but it was in crowded shade and I was told it could take rather much sun.
To my big surprise, it had been growing good during the summer- in my full nordic sun... sun..what sun

Give it some room I'd say there correct with it being a medium/large size. I didn't take any measurements though . For size comparison that's Lakeside Black Mama in front of it. LBM is about the size of it's parent ventricosa.. To me LSM really didn't have much appeal when young, but it's starting to look good now after a few years
