Pic of the Day--Golden Waffles

Post by Hank Zumach »

Hi All--Golden Waffles has been providing a nice bright spot in our garden since 1998. It is very similar in appearance to Aspen Gold but its white flowers, rather than Aspen Gold's lavender flowers, can be used to tell them apart. Golden Waffles is one of those varieties that becomes more attractive as it gains maturity. It has also produced a very nice variegated sport for me. For most of the time I have had it, it has been in a spot that gets about 3-4 hours of mid-day sun. Starting in 2001 it measured 34x20, 45x21, 54x26, 62x26, and 64x31. Zilis lists it at 50x23 while Lemke's listing of registration information is 24x16. Hmmm. Slugs do not show an interest.

It does look lovely. I like the white blooms too. :D
I had one, but it died last year during that strange winter we had. :(

Beautiful plant, Hank. It's in the lineage of a lot of Hostas.

Gawgeous plant. Any hosta with white blooms is on my "preferred to have" list. This one is definitely on the list. Love the gold.

3 to 4 hours of midday sun

You think it's the reason for mine being slow...
1 to 2 hours of morning - Nordic sun :o

3 to 4 hours of midday sun.... can I do it at all with all day sun at all :-?

Here I am the one pledging for: hostas need sun ...and you tell me they need even more
Still sold as shade plant to deep shade here...

Lovely hosta by the way :D
