Pic of the Day--Garden tour 29

Post by Hank Zumach »

Hi All--Well, I managed to do the tour of our place in less than a month. :-) The three photos today are the last of the "tour." They show a continuation of yesterday's photos of the steep bank and retaining walls that runs behind our home and is directly downhill from the woodland path. The hostas are mostly named varieties with a few seedlings. The plants in the upper left of the last photo were planted in the last two years.

I love this section Hank! :D The hostas are set off so beautifully by the carpet of sedum and the skirting of ivy adds the finishing touch.

Thanks again for the tour. Like Ginger, your gardens always inspire me. I'll be looking back at your pics and trying to put some of your design ideas into practice here.

No, Pia, I agree. :D Everything has grown and filled out in two years. Here is a pic of that area from the tour last year.

Yes, Hank, it was an awesome tour!

As others have said, I too, am inspired to make some changes and try some new things. Your gardens are magnificent, and I truly appreciate you sharing them with us. I'm a little sad the tour is over...although I hope you'll be picking back up with the POTD...

Thanks again...soooo verrrry much!!!! :D

Hank, your gardens are like a park. Wonderful! Sure wish I had that space and the wooded areas.

Hi Bob--Welcome to the site. You'll find a lot of nice people hang out here.

The ground cover is sedum 'Acre.' I do not recommend it for most applications. It is quite aggressive and, in general, takes a lot of work to contain. I use it in that area because the area is pretty much contained by the retaining walls and the natural stone wall. Even then, we have to be on the lookout for plants that somehow start to grow below the area where it is planted.
