Compare Satisfaction & Silk Kimono, please .....
I am considering both of these. Do you have any comments, recommendations? Are these too similar to buy both?
Thanks,
Thanks,
Silk Kimono is green with medium width white edge, nice wavy elongated leaf.
Satisfacton is green with a wide yellow margin, less elongated, less wavy leaf. They don't look much alike.

Satisfaction is the same sport of Piedmont Gold as Tyler's Treasure and Piedmont Special. It is a great plant, but they are all alike so if you already have one of the others this would be a repeat.
Silk Kimono, like Dave mentioned is green with a wavy white edge, but what makes this one distinctive is that it can get to be very large.
I really like the Piedmont Gold sports, so if you didn't have one of those then Satisfaction would be my first choice.

Silk Komono - Satisfaction
Silk Komono - wonderful - beautiful plant! Gets very large. I grew it in a big blue pot and it was awesome. Of course, there are the growing pains to get through - then one year, all of a sudden - Silk Komono is an awesome plant. It is in the graden now & a near show-stopper!
Satisfaction was in every garden on the 2006 Midwest Hosta Convention tours. Also a large beauty in the garden but of the 2, if I had to choose, it would be Silk Komono for me. But, why not have both

Thank you all so very much for your detailed comparison. Somehow, I got the impression that they were much more alike.
Chris, I don't have any of that group.
It sounds like Satisfaction is a sure thing, and Silk Kimono may not be far behind. I have a lot of room for some Large and XLarge hostas.
You have all been a big help.

I saw the first Silk Kimono auctioned - at the 2000 AHS convention in 2000 in Minnesota - as I remember it, it sold for $1000 or more. It is a very attractive plant.
I also like Satisfaction. Both are fine plants. You want both...
Someday I'll get my pictures off the old computer and I'll be able to post some again...

I've got Silk Kimono & it's a very fast-growing plant, and to me it has an elegant appearance. It has an amazing glow in early evening light. Must be where I have it situated, but no other hosta I have has that same soft appearance in the evenings.
I've seen one Satisfaction that was on the ROHS tour in 2006 that was a show stopper. I had no idea it could get so big until I saw that one.
And the others are right - they don't look alike at all. So if you've got the room, you definitely need both.

'Silk Kimono'
I have both, but only have a pic of the Silk Kimono planted. It's a very pretty hosta. Very elegant looking. It has also grown well for me. If you have tons of room , then go for it!
