So who's going...

Post by renaldo75 »

...to the AHS National Convention in St. Louis next month??

I got my registration sent in on the last day it could be postmarked before the additional $50 got tacked onto the tab. Nothing like a little healthy procrastination.

I know that Marlys & Ron and Dr. Dave are going to be there. I was wondering if anyone else from Hallson's was planning on attending.

I went to my 1st convention - the MW Regional - in St. Louis in 2003, and had a wonderful time!! I attended both the national & midwest conventions in Iowa the next year, but haven't been able to get to any since then even though the midwest was in Iowa again last year.

It's just a month away now and I can't wait!! :D

If you all go there ask about the "Hill' in St. Louis that is famous for Italian food and the most fantastic deli's and Italian markets. I recommend that you visit the hill and bring a cooler.
I am thinking about going to the convention. It is only about 2 hours away and I could stay at my dads house across the river in Illinois. I grew up only 20-30 minutes from St. Louis. In fact, my brother wrote a book about the Hill in St. louis called "Immigrants on the Hill"

Cheryl!!!! You just made my day. That is great information. How I love a good italian deli and italian food!!!!!!! This will force me to bring extra money and put an extra notch in my belt though! :D I may have gotten my fathers last name but I got most of my mothers italian DNA.

Steve,
I always say my moms (lame) irish is cancelled out by my dads overwhelming sicilian ancestry
How I love to go to the hill once or twice a year. I load up on salami (they have numerous ones dry and fresh on the hill) and olives to die for.
I get fresh ricotta, mozzarella and an assortment of cheeses. I freeze what I can't use immediately. I usually give a call to family and friends and make great eggplant parmesean or lasagne or just do salami, cheese and olives and antipasti with wine for a party.
Yum.

  That's just what I was thinking, Kent!! :P

Cheryl - I think Friday evening dinner is on our own so you'd better show up and take us to 'the hill'. :D

Good to know that there'll be some more of us Hallsonites at the convention!! :P It'll be nice to finally meet Kent & Steve & Lee.

I met George at the 2004 convention in Des Moines, but I didn't realize who he was here on Hallson's until after the convention was over. :???: It'll be good to see him again.

I didn't realize you were almost as big of a procrastinator as me, Josh.

Anybody else who's gonna Meet Me in St. Louis??

Unfortunately, I won't be there. I had committed to the local garden walk when they asked me last year, and it turns out to be on the very weekend of national convention.

Reldon, I did check the date for Midwest Regional, but forgot that National was so close this year.
Mary Ann...you are sooo right!
Think of me when you're gathered around the table eating all that great Italian food!!!

Now I understand, Ken. :) [Even though my mind is still boggling slightly over Whamadiddle...]

I'm gonna try. My only real problem will be finding an affordable place to stay in the Chicago area...
