My fave seedling from MWHS meeting in Chicago

Post by DBoweMD »

Here is the gold with red petiole seedling I got a red ribbon for in Chicago, now in flower.
Too bad it was not flowering two weeks ago!

Dave that's a beautiful flower love there! Really like your wavy yellow leaves with those pretty reg legs. I hope in the future it's available in the market! Any plans?

Looks good, Dave...we knew that it would look great flowering.

It is always going to be difficult to compete against others who's hostas bloom sooner than ours because of the zone differences. Now if the competition was later, we could have the edge, because theirs would be done blooming.

Good luck with your plant, and thanks for sharing the photo

Great seedling, Dave! Love that flower too. Haven't seen one quite like that. What's the parentage?

Your plant has it all-- gold leaves, red stems and a wonderful flower. I love the purple and white. I think this one should be registered and made available to the rest of the hosta lovers. Great job!

It's One Man's Treasure x Stardust. Stardust is early blooming, white flower. SD = White Vision x Montana Macrophylla.
The flower looks similar to One Man's Treasure.

Here is a pic of OMT flowers

WOW!! :o :o  That is a gorgeous flower, Dave!! I thought your plant was far superior to the one that got the blue ribbon. On everything. Yes it had purple scapes, but the rest of the plant was nothing special. I heard Mark Zilis' explanation to you & Bob Solberg about why they voted the way they did & frankly I wasn't too impressed with his explanation. And in a garden setting your plant just shines. :D

I finally remembered to look at the # on the 'Spritzer' x plantagenia seedling you brought me. It's #5070. I think that was the one you wanted to know... If not, the other one is 'Stardust' x 'Red October' - #284769.
GO HAWKEYES!!!

That really is a gorgeous hosta, Dave! Beautiful form and shape, too!

I agree, that it would be nice if it were available. :D

Thanks for the pics, Dave. I never did get a chance to see your seedling. I'm pretty sure the other one won out just because of those red flower stalks.
Remember to show us pics in a few years of this one! I bet it's going to be a spectacular clump.
