Hallson's Get-Together 2009

Post by Roxanne »

Hi All!! :P

As many of you know, I volunteered last summer to have the get together here at my place. We already decided on July 18th as the date.
As always, we will have potluck, with me providing the meat (and I don't know just yet what it will be  )
Also- a Hosta swap. Bring up to 3 named Hostas, and we will have a random drawing to see who gets to pick first. I might have a game or 2 as well....with prizes, of course!

I'd like to see just how many people are planning to attend. If you need directions, pm me.

It's on my calendar, Roxanne! I just got an email yesterday from my son's fiancee. Her parents are going to be in Madison on, you guessed it, July 18, and she wanted us to come up to meet them. They live in South Dakota, so it's not going to be real easy to set up a meeting, especially since DH is still milking cows and has no back-up milker.
Anyway, I told her I couldn't make it then, and we'd have to try another time. I'm not missing the Hallson's gathering again this year!

Glad to see a few quick replies! :D
Linda, I feel your pain about having too much going on, but glad you are coming!!
I am not attending the Midwest Regional this year because of a wedding, and now I have invites for 2 graduation parties and another wedding the same day! Looks like cards are going to be mailed to a few people instead of me showing up. Oh well.
Sue, I am sending you directions. :P
Steve and Deb, are you sure you don't need directions??

Anyone else planning to come? The more the merrier!

Yes Jo, you can ride with me. Remember last year we didn't have room for one more hosta :D We sure had fun though. I have the directions it sounds easy to find. We will see how many plants we can put in a Trail Blazer vs a Van. Sounds like a wonderful plan to me. We'll see how many hosta's we can find on the way.

Sounds exciting!!! It will be good to get together with old friends. Time to start thinking about what to pot up for the exchange.
Hmmm..... :hmm: Perhaps I could unload...er, ah, give away some of my way-too-many-to-keep seedlings? Hmmmmm.... :hmm:

Hi Rox - I'm planning to be there. I'll make time in my schedule. Marlys mentioned your get-together to me a few days ago. I think she was planning to be there. I haven't talked to any of the rest of the Pella crowd so I'm not sure if they will be or not. It will be good to see everyone again!! :)

RATS!....My calendar says I'm working the AHS accredited MN hosta society leaf show at the Bachman's Heritage room that day. I'm missing our board meeting to assess some therapy dogs later that afternoon. I was in Iowa on Sat. I went to Norwalk....you can guess why. Kimmy and I left at 9a (after a garden club sale) and I drove 80 MPH. We FILLED the mini. We had to take the top down to get everything in. I got the coolest rock! Eric said it belonged to Gunther but it had Fred written all over it. It made my trip....oh and the instead landscape plant of Wahoo~! STREAKED. I'm sorry I'll miss it. Roxanne has a great yard and you won't be disappointed. LOVELY! I'll be thinking about ya. Later, Love, Lisa

Lisa, sorry you can't make it. Cool picture you posted though! :P Thanks for the compliment as well! I want to see a picture of that rock!

Reldon, as always I will look forward to seeing you again! I haven't heard from anyone from Pella yet. But, it's a very busy time of year right now. I was worried about posting this too early, but once people make plans and committments for summer, it's hard to change them.
So, I decided to go for it.

Linda, I can think of a seedling or 2 you could bring here. :D
I need to start thinking of what to pot up for the trade as well, or maybe be lazy and just go buy something. I have enough on my plate right now just trying to get my beds in order.
I HATE dandelions! And volunteer trees!

Thanks for bumping this up, Linda! :P

I have talked to a couple people who are planning to attend.
I want to add, I do have a few lawn chairs, but bring one if you can.

I'm hoping to attend the Hallson Reunion.
I hope I have the day off work.
I sure am praying for it.
My replacement had to check her schedule one more time before she could totally commit.
Please, please, please!!! I want to come so badly.
Working weekends STINKS!!!
I should know this week.
I never remember lawn chairs.
Reldon could you throw an extra one in for me.

Sorry, Marlys - I just have the one chair. And you don't like the canvas kind if I recall correctly...
I do have multiple plates now. But never more than one in the van at a time. If there's one in there at all.
Otherwise I'd still just have the one plate. ;)

I hope all who are close enough to Roxanne's can make it that day!!
[And even some who aren't.]
:D Should be fun as always!!

Roxanne,

Can you give us a time and anything else we should know. I do know we should bring 3 hostas to trade and I do know where you live!

Looking forward to this...thanks,
