A walk around the yard this morning

Post by HostaDesigner »

A very nice morning!

'Continental Divide' is looking great this year!
Image

"Out of room" is the understatement of the year. One of the newly transplanted seedlings in the foreground.
Image

'Halcyon' mixed in with native plants and some of the worlds biggest jack-in-the-pulpits.
Image

Another view of the back corner hosta beds.
Image

Nature gives some of the best surprises on its own. Moss is starting to grow on the birdbath 2 feet off the ground. Love it!
Image

'Chickenhearted'
Image

'Chickenhearted' in front of 'Old Faithful' and an unnamed large gold seedling.
Image

The English Painted Fern is one of the best ferns ever. It just gets better year after year, and stays under control.
Image

A seedling from a streaked 'Gold Standard' seedling. The blues are out of 'Fragrant Blue'.
Image

The most prized one this year. Can't wait to start breeding with it.
Image

Seedling beds in "the vault."
Image

All my elms are dying, so I used the logs for something other than firewood. When dealt lemons, make lemonade.
Image

Another F2 'Gold Standard' seedling starting to stabilize.
Image

'Tokudama' x 'Bengee' bought from Olga P. several years ago.
Image

Unstoppable color contrast! Love it!

What a lovely garden! Everything looks so healthy and happy. BTW what is that gorgeous one that is "most prized" (love that for a name too!) is it a seedling of yours? It is just a showstopper!

One of the nicest mornings in a while. The wild roses (a.k.a. pricker-bushes) are all blooming and the wind was carrying the fragrance throughout the woods. Very relaxing. :)

Lush hostas & others... Your garden is so relaxing, yet stimulating!! I always enjoy seeing your hostas & what's growing in your 'vault'. I need a 'vault'!! Do you have names for the tiarella/heuchera combination?

Thanks for the tour! Chickenhearted is getting big...
and that prized one...Wow!
But that Continental Divide is a showstopper.
When is that one going to hit the marketplace? :)

Those are gorgeous...I really like 'Tokudama' x 'Bengee' . The English fern is lovely, too. Does it stay that color all season?

See if I can answer all of these at once.

The gold one is Heucherella 'Stoplight', and the purple one is some other fairly common Heuchera, but I don't remember the name. Ald old friend of mine grew seedlings from Heuchera. I'd like to try that some day too.

This is a seedling from 2005(ish).

I know Olga Petryszyn has TC'd this one, so if not this year, I would guess next year.

Yes! It keeps its color and form all year.

Isn't this gardening stuff fun? :)

Are your images being imported from some other program? What I saw looked lovely, but I didn't see everything because they took so long to download.

Hi there. They are linked directly from my Photobucket account. All of the fine detail and busy background really makes the file size skyrocket.

I like them all, but especially the light edged rippled one in the "out of room" photo. Is that a seedling?

In the foreground of the third pic and in the fourth pic there is a three leafleted plant that I know isn't poison ivy and looks way too large to be trillium. That is it? I have to agree that your most prized should be named Most Prized. Gorgeous as are your Continental Divide and your Tokudama X Bengee.
