Date for the Hallson Summer Get Together!

Hi Everyone

From the input we received it looks like the day for the Hallson Summer Get Together will be Saturday, July 25th.

Does that work for you? Please let us know.

The itinerary for Saturday will be to arrive around 9 to 10am, lunch will be at 12:30. We will do the hosta swap at 2:00pm, with the auction right after that.

In the afternoon we will have a fun craft project - painting concrete hosta leaves! The leaves are already made - you get to turn them into your favorite hosta (or make your dream hosta )

If you get here early, on Friday evening we will have a wine tasting party from Cherry Creek, one of the local wineries down the road from us.

I am going to do my best to make it...but with MIL, I have to live "in the moment" with her and plans often change minute to minute, according to her psychological/physical status and mood. I really, really, REALLY need a day away. My husband is getting twitchy at the thought of staying alone with her all day - she now needs a lot more "personal" care (dressing/undressing, toileting, etc.). And the last time I left him alone all day with her, he couldn't get her out of bed so had to call 911 and spend the day in the ER with her. Nothing wrong with her, she just didn't want to get up (sigh). I am going to look into having our local Adult Foster Care home keep her for that weekend so we both get a break. MIL goes to the county Adult Day Care with 2-3 of their residents, so she would know them and maybe not be too freaked out.

Anybody downstate want to buy a nice condo in a very nice established 50+ development in Plymouth really cheap? We are dropping the price $5,000 tomorrow, and will likely drop the price weekly until it sells. I am not going to be able to take care of MIL much longer so we have to get that condo sold. And hey, if it sells before the Hosta Gathering, I will be able to buy some hosta! (hehe)

Hmmm. This really isn't that far from me at 2.5 hours. Maybe I could talk my wife into coming too. we'd have to find a dog-sitter! The date certainly works for me.

That is a day I have to work. August requests are not made yet. I thought it would be in August.

I'm sorry to hear it Dave The first couple years we had it in August, but because of the race schedule we had it the last Saturday of July last year and it seemed to work out better for more people and better to avoid the races at the speedway in Brooklyn.

LG called to check on me b/c she heard through the grapevine that I was suspended from Facebook , and told me about the gathering! I'm hoping dd is free that day, b/c I'm pretty sure my old beater won't make the ride that far, but we'll see..desperate times call for desperate ideas. I could hitchhike! LOL

Seriously... I am hoping to make it but will know more tomorrow, if all else fails, I'll be bringing my granddaughter with me! YEAH!!!!!!!!!

Jane: Diana and I could pick you up on the way through...we have to go right past there anyways. Let me know...no problem at all (it'll only cost you one hosta - hehe!). Hope you can make it this year...seeing you in the parking lot in MP afterwards for a couple minutes just didn't do the trick (hehe).

Dr. Dave: CALL IN SICK...you should be able to come up with a believable excuse, right? You too, Joan...gee, it wouldn't be the same without you both!

Hi you guys!

We are looking forward to seeing you all again this year. What do you think about the activities that we have planned? There is a lady at Michaels that made concrete hosta leaves for us and we think they will be fun to paint.

Chris will make baked spaghetti again, since thats what everyone likes.
