So where are the convention photos?

Post by Chris_W »

I know there were quite a few people at the convention, but no pictures to share? I want to see all those great tour gardens, if you have time to share them ;)

Don't know about the rest, but I'm looking at hundreds of photos and a garden overgrown from neglect... so the hostas will get most of my attention and I'll be working on the photos as exhaustion allows... pictures will still be good in January, right?!

Yup, the pictures will be welcome even in January :)

That's what I was wondering, if everyone was recovering at home, getting those new hostas planted, or just suffering from a bit of hosta burnout ;)

We're playing catch-up here, too.

The three days of 90*+ last week really did a number on some things while we were gone. Even mature plants in the garden burned badly...I've never seen things burn so quickly. We've been so cool and wet, I think the plants were too lush.

It was nice to meet you, Chris...I wish we would have had more time to look around and visit!

I made a gallery of them on my Facebook page - this is only day 1, I'm still working on day 2. Here is the link that anyone can look at even if you don't belong to Facebook.

Let me know if you can see them.

The gardens were awesome.

That's what I was wondering - if our paths crossed or not with Lela. And I know another forum member from MI had leaves in the leaf show. I may have seen her, but didn't know who she was.

Chris - I haven't even looked at the pics I took yet. They're still on my camera. From the 1st day. 2nd day I conveniently left my camera in the room, and didn't realize it until I didn't have enought time to make a mad dash for it before the bus left. Jim/jgh was kind enough to loan me his extra camera. So I have some from day 2 that he'll send me one of these days.

Wonderful pics! It's always nice to see pics of our Hallson friends and , of course, beautiful gardens with hostas. :D

Lela...On page one of your photos on Facebook you ask for an ID of some flowers in one of the pics.......If you find out what they are , can you post it here.? I have those same blooms. Got them from a neighbor ,but he had no idea what they were called. Seems like this is the first year that they have looked really good. :)

Great pics, everyone. Lela and Joan, I think your mystery flowers are rose campion. Mine are a gift from the gardens of Lucy Goose, and they're looking fabulous this year.
Can't wait to see more of the convention.

Here's from day 2: Enjoy!

Linda - yes, thanks to you & Lynn - Rose campion are the flowers I was looking for the name of - they were in about every garden from day 1 of tours - in the sun, total shade, part shade... and looked easy to grow, maybe even invasive in the right spot.

Renaldo - I think you were on our bus the first day (you would remember my crazy co-captain with the duck/goose call...she didn't like my whistle idea) - and I think we talked at the Wilkins.

JGH - I think we spoke at breakfast one day, but didn't get a formal introduction.

You are right, those are Rose Campion & can be invasive in a sunny location because they reseed themselves. To contol them somewhat, you need to deadhead them. I started with 1 plant that I received in a trade & have many plants now. They are a pretty color though.
I'm really enjoying all the convention pictures... keep 'em coming.

Lela - if we talked in the Wilkins garden, I sure wish you would have introduced yourself. I talked to a LOT of people in that wonderful garden. I might still be talking there if it weren't for finally hearing that duck call. And Don Dean calling 'RELDON' loudly and repeatedly.... Bruce & Trudy seemed to be concerned that I wasn't on the bus yet. Lee said he knew I'd get a ride on another bus if I didn't show up & told them to leave without me.
