Six Months Ago - Six Months To Go (22 photos)

Post by tsbccowboy »

Six months ago, on 5/21/09, seems like so long ago.

Now we have another six months to get to 5/21/10 and it seems so very far away.

Here are some photos from 5/21/09:

Love Cabaret. Hadn't seen Ebb Tide before - it reminds me of something else - hmmm - On Stage maybe - no that's a reverse - whatever - I need to get one.

Always like looking at the Striptease babies. How old is your Naked Lady?

Great display!

I knew I had seen one that looked like that - the first picture in the hosta library of montana 'Aureomarginata'. I remembered that because I wanted one that looked like that. Many labeled aureomarginata end up with a white or cream edge. Your 'Ebb Tide' is really nice.

How old is your Naked Lady?

'Naked Lady' arrived on 9/4/08 from Avalon Acres, so it is still pretty young.

Here is a photo:

'Ebb Tide' is a nice plant. After the following photo was taken, I moved 'Ebb Tide' to a less Sunny location to try to keep the edges darker. 'Ebb Tide' put a lot of growth on between 5/21/09 & 6/1/09.

I bought the last NL from them last year. Arrived 9/26/2008. I have it sitting next to Cabaret and Juha. And those are all small sitting next to a large Striptease.

Great pics, TSB!! :D Thanks for sharing them. A nice reminder that we aren't all that far away from seeing our favorites again.

I'm curious about what's in the lower right and upper left of the Sea Fire pic. My guess is Pizzazz in the lower right and Wolverine in the upper left.

Ebb Tide is a really nice plant. I got both in spring of 2003 & I've always had mine next to montana Aureomarginata until the move this fall. ET is like a smaller version of mA - mine was maybe slightly over 1/2 the size the last couple of years. After a couple yrs ET develops the green 'grass clippings' in the margins. I don't remember them being there the 1st couple of yrs I had it.

RedCrx - do you have any photos of Juha?

Renaldo - correct on Wolverine!

The one in the lower right is not Pizzazz. It is starting to get its pebbles.

Here is another photo to help with identifying it:

Here is Juha through the season with Hanky Panky on the edge of some of the frames.
The second flush of leaves has some interesting coloration for late in the season.

RedCrx - Thanks for showing your photos of Juha. I like that late coloration on it. Striptease was one of the first Hostas that caught my eye; so I, too, like Striptease and the sports.

Renaldo - I shouldn't have mentioned the pebbles. You made it look way too easy getting the correct name of Alligator Shoes.

There's an interesting picture at hostworld.nl that highlights the color change of Juha.
