Yup. That's a Regal Splendor!
Wow, I knew these grew tall scapes but I wasn't expecting 57" the first year! Hopefully the foliage catches up with the scapes a bit next year.

Reach for the sky, pardner! That RS has big ambitions! I love this hosta, one of my favs. They look great all season long, nothing ever seems to bother them. On my top 5 list!

I would have agreed with you until this season. I finally found what bothers it- hail and strong wind. I have two mature ones, and one was completely destroyed by the storm this season, with most of the petioles broken. I think being vase shaped made it more susceptible to wind damage than other varieties. The other RS in a different spot still looks great though....actually probably fared the best out of all of them. It's one of my favorites too and I remember mine throwing up those super tall scapes when they were young, too.

Wow! Mine is finally blooming this year - first time since I moved it over 2 years ago but it's not matching yours for scape height.

It's in the genes. Here's my second year Krossa Regal. The scapes are 5'4" when leaning towards the sun. We actually measured them with a tape measure after the picture and they're about 5'7".
This Krossa Regal was grown in full sun, my other spent most of the summer in the shade and is taller, but not as full. The one that spent the summer in the shade didn't develop scapes this year.

So mad is Kr a species or a hybrid I guess it grwos among tall grass if so hence taller scapes to get noticed.
Re: Yup. That's a Regal Splendor!
Wow, mine aren't that tall, but I just got mine a couple months ago. I can't believe they are standing on there own.

Mine's definitely got those looooonnnng 'Regal Splendor' scapes and plenty of flowers this year. I can never decide if I like or dislike the crazy long scapes and flowers, so I pretty much just leave them alone.
This has been one fast-growing hosta for me, though. Doubled its size in its second season--from 8 eyes to 16. Can't complain about that.

One of my favorites. usually shoots way up there but this season with the heat and drought, the scapes are barely above the foliage. Looking forward to next year!
