I'm embarrassed to post this picture. Patriot is the ugliest Hosta I have right now with the dried edges and hail damage. It's in is in the corner of my yard, so get's a bit neglected with water at times. Also gets quite a bit of direct sun in the summer around 5+ hours. Hoping it will come up better next year or it might need a move. Got it from Chris this year.

My 'Patriot' isn't looking wonderful either right now. It's always one of the first on which the leaves go brown.

Unless there next to each other how can you tell the difference between Minute Man and Patriot I have a Minute Man and had a Patriot when they were close together I could just tell the difference

I don't see much difference. In my first picture there are two Minuteman above the Night before Christmas.

I moved this last week to be close to 'Loyalist'. The ones around where it was were mostly yellow-toned and having the two related hostas next to each other will look better.

Picture taken Sept. 13/12. Not looking quite as good as earlier, but holding up well. Got it last year. I've kept it in a pot since.

I moved 'Patriot' at the end of the 2012 season so that it's right next to its reverse colour sport, 'Loyalist'. It looks great there. Photo July 16, 2014.

2016 update - it didn't do particularly well in 2016 and I was told that across the region this variety was not doing well. Might have been affected by the very strange winter we had 2015-16 with long mild stretches which melted the snow.

2017 update - It continued to do poorly in 2017. I dug it and examined the roots and decided to replace it. However, I grew the remnants of it in my nursery bed for the remainder of the season. In 2018 the original was looking better, but since my space is limited, I gave it away. This is the replacement plant July 12. I grew it in a pot for the season while I improved the soil where the old plant was.
