Daily Hosta - 'Sharmon' (streaker)

Post by redcrx »

I thought I would throw in some plants with streaky leaves. They add some flash to the garden. A few have already been shown - 'Stealth', 'Color Parade', and a few in the "Mouse" family.

'Sharmon' is a fortunei sport. The lighter colors in the leaves turn to green as the season progresses.

I bought a big pot of this plant a couple of years ago. It's highly variable and unstable. I took off all the plain green - one of the green pieces had elongated dark leaves. A solid yellow center piece acts like Fortunei Albopica where that bright center goes to solid green. The second picture has a similar piece coming out.

Sharmon was one of the first hostas I purchased. I had a big, beautiful clump of it, and then nearly lost it. It's making a comeback now.
Some years mine keeps the color much longer than others; some years it comes up and turns green almost immediately. It's one you don't see around
much these days. Thanks for mentioning this one.
