Please can some one tell me the parentage of this hosta, I got a decent sized one last year and absolutely love it. However I would also apreciate knowing if it is late to emerge as most of my other hostas are up but no sign of Praying hands yet
Thank you

Re: Praying hands
I believe it was found in a greenhouse and no one knows. I thought I remembered reading that somewhere.

Re: Praying hands
You are correct, sir. The registration (found at http://www.hostaregistrar.org) says so.ogrefcf wrote:I believe it was found in a greenhouse and no one knows. I thought I remembered reading that somewhere.
And to plug membership in the American Hosta Society, the newest issue of The Hosta Journal has an extended article about discovery and dissemination of 'Praying Hands' (along with discussion of other cultivars related either in heritage or name).
Re: Praying hands
Mine was late to emerge, I didn't think it had made it but all of a sudden, not there one day and up an inch the next.
Re: Praying hands
Mine hasnt emerged yet and all my others are up and some in leaf, hence the reason for asking re the Praying hands. I was told by Bowden Hostas (where I got it) that it is known for being late to rise, will just have to wait and see
Thank you

Re: Praying hands
I always thought it looked like Roundup damage. In that case, I have a few of them.
Re: Praying hands
Definately one of our last to emerge from winter. I wouldn't worry about it too much yet.
To the world you may be one, but to one you may be the world.
