Is Stiletto sick?

Post by lykaon78 »

The leaves have started to turn over the last week. It isn't just one eye but multiple leaves on multiple eyes. Any thoughts?

Could be it's sporting or just getting more sun. Looks okay to me, but I defer to more knowledgeable people here.

Maybe in iron or magnesium defency, I'd be tempted to try Epsom salts (magnesium suphate) not too sure if you call it that over there.

I have a couple plants with odd colored leaves and thought it might be from the late frost we had.

I agree with Mark, defency. I 'cured' my stiletto by fertilizing it with potassium sulphat.

Lacking something for sure.
You can have a soil test or try the advise from Sugar.

I agree with the suggestion to try watering it with Epsom Salts.

Another piece to add to the mystery; this weekend at the mother-in-law's house I noticed the piece I shared with her is showing the same characteristics.

Its been in her garden since September. We live roughly 15 minutes apart so its conceivable her soil is short on the same nutrients.

Does this change anyone's opinion?

Maybe
Give it the perfect cure with the fertilizer... if it do not change... then.. or now look if the changes come from an/ more eyes where the leaves have the same color..darn difficil in English- sorry, but it can be sporting/ changing color .

Please ask if it is not possible to understand, sometimes words comes slow and it is late night here

Yes it does change my opinion slightly now unless the original plant had the defiency for some time and grew new shoots (eyes) with that defiency, I would still be tempted to try Epsom salts on it as I am sure it won't do any harm if (and I probably am) wrong.

I think it might just be getting a new flush of leaves. Look at it again in a few weeks and
see if those leaves have turned darker. There are many plants that send out new flushes of
leaves, and they will be a slightly different color than the older leaves.
It may be happening earlier this year, since the plants are all so far ahead of schedule.
And time remembered is grief forgotten,
And frosts are slain and flowers begotten.....

I agree with Linda on this one, that it is just a new flush of foliage that hasn't colored up yet. Sometimes if a plant is growing really fast the nutrients can't get into the leaves as quickly and this is what they look like. While epsom salts won't hurt it, the plant will likely green up just fine on its own.

So no, it isn't sick, and is actually just growing really fast :D

Is that the same way some faster growing ones go? I had an August moon that did that early leaves were standard shape and colour but later "summer" leaves were more yellow and banana shaped on one side.
