Daily Hosta - 'Stand By Me' - add your pics

Post by ViolaAnn »

Name: H. 'Stand By Me'

Description: upright yellowish-green leaves have a very irregular blue border with lots of streaking toward the center. Not only is the plant smaller and more compact than 'June', but it grows into a fairly upright mound.

Size: Small
Origin: Marco Fransen, sport of H/ 'June'
Flowers: lavender in late summer
Source: Goldenbrook Hostas
Added to garden: Spring 2012
Notes: not my description above. I would have called the leaves blue with yellow streaking in the centre. I kept this one in a pot for 2012. Will try to find garden space next year.

Registry Link: not registered as of August 2012.

2015 - July 25. Getting a lot of sun this year because of the loss of a tree, but it only began to show any signs of burning in the middle of August. Will water more next year.

I have Stand by Me growing the a trough.

That's Wild Strawberries on the left trying to dominate the trough. The leaves on the right are from a stabilized The Perfect Storm that I'm calling Edge of the Storm - The Hosta Library shows a sport of The Perfect Storm that looks similar called Polar Vortex.
