O'Brien's Hostas Season's End Sale

Post by Phil »

I'll be headed over to O'Brien's Nursery in Granby CT today. This is their last weekend of the year and everything is 20% off. I'm thinking I can get myself into lots of trouble over there.

It was a nice outing. I got:

Velvet Moon
Blue Moon
White Wall Tire
Tick Tock
Dick Ward
Camelot
5 O'Clock Shadow
Powder Blue
Royal Flush
Sum Of All
Devon Green

They'd had a killing frost, so there wasn't much to see, so i'll just post a picture of their resident attack kitten: :)

Nice list Phil.

I bought Blue Moon in 2011 -- 30 eyes. It faded to only two eyes this year. Not sure what I did wrong with it.
My Dick Ward takes tons of sun.
Powder Blue is a great grower and one of the nices blues in my garden.
Royal Flush is beautiful, I'm waiting for mine to grow!
My Sum of All won't tolerate ANY sun. I've had to move it twice.
I picked up Devon Green from Chris this summer but never had a chance to plant it.

Be sure and get a picture of White Wall Tire in the spring. I'm thinking about replacing my White Feather with it.

I think I'll have to put Five O'Clock Shadow and Tick Tock on my list!

Great choices Phil-that White Wall Tire looks really cool. May look into that one in Spring.

The choices weren't all mine, I'm splitting a bunch of them with my cousin, I'll leave them in the pots and divide in the Spring. Thanks for the feedback and wisdom, I would have made the mistake of putting Sum Of All in a sunnier location.

Nice haul :D

Gesila, did you look at the roots ?
Could be a plant newly dug in the garden with all the roots cut (ower) . thats what most of mine looked like after I moved to a new house

If.. it will (slowly) come back, I didn't know what was wrong, so I only gave them compost.. for once they could have used some real fertilizer and lot of water in the fall and spring.
