Not a hosta, but what the heck is it?
I'm a pretty active Pinterest user. For those who haven't been to the site, it's basically a sort of online bulletin board where you can pin interesting photos and articles for your own safe keeping, and for others to see and share. There's a pin going around that people have labeled as a hosta, when clearly it isn't one. Every time I see this photo labeled as a "variegated hosta" I cringe.
Does anyone know what this actually is? Looks like something tropical, or perhaps it's a house plant?

No
Is is nice- sure it is not a hosta... thinking some sort of elephant ears,colocasia.... but not one I have ever seen

Reminds me of a canna but none I've ever seen before.

Eleven, thanks for tracking down that link. I sent it to one of the garden managers at the Conservatory of Flowers. Will let all know if I get an answer.

It doesn't look like a canna leaf to me. How about a Caladium lindenii 'Magnificum?

I don't know how to lead you to a link. I just searched canna leaves on Google and found a picture that looks very similar. I couldn't get the tiger one to come up on my screen.

Here's a tiger canna lily. I don't think that's it. The mystery continues.

A response from the conservatory staff gets us closer:
Looks a lot like this stock photo if you add a little Photoshop-style color shifting.
It's a big genus. C. majestica? The plant in the photo appears to be in the family Marantaceae. My best guess is that it is a Calathea.
Hope this is helpful.
Best,
Eric Imperiale

Wow, not what I think of for a "Prayer Plant".

Awesome! Thanks for the research.
I may need to get one of these as a houseplant. And here's a photo of Calathea orbifolia.
