Hosta species, like cultivars, tend to make sports and mutation.
Japanese are very keen on vieriegated plants and collect them where ever they can.
This H. kiyosumiensis mutation or sport from Japan does not have two leafs that are equal, neither in color nor in shape.
I intend to use it in my hybridization plans.
It may not be the prettiest hosta around, but I like it.

Interesting plant. Is it known to be fertile?

I got one of these in this season in mid-July - a small plant with some big leaves.
It's a sport of kiyosumiensis.

It lost the big leaves and sprouted again. Here it is today late September.
