'Electrocution' - Hosta of the Day - add your photos

Post by ViolaAnn »

H. 'Electrocution'

This is one of the more unique hosta introductions, a complex cross of (('Swoosh' x longissima) x 'Red Neck Heaven') x 'Elvis Lives'. 'Electrocution' makes a 14" tall x 28" wide clump of long, narrow, severely twisted leaves which are medium green with a nice yellow border that ages to white. The clump truly looks like it was letting out a final scream while strapped to an electric chair when the switch was pulled. The peculiar clumps are topped in late June with 18" spikes of light lavender flowers.

Mine was new spring 2014 and is still pretty small. It was also enjoyed by the slugs but I'm been assured that once it grows it's not overly affected. Photo July 16.

2017 update. I finally got this one into the ground and it's looking good. So far in 2018 I can really see how it got its name.
This picture from 2017 before it found garden space though.
