Hosta of the Day - Greased Pole

Post by redcrx »

Greased Pole is a medium sized green hosta with very dark scapes. It is out of the breeding program of Jeff Moore as he works to develop red flowered hostas. Greased Pole is a cross of Katsuragawa Beni with Flor Roja. Flor Roja is a Kokuryu F1 seedling.

This hosta doesn't show up in the "normal" locations but is referenced in the American Hosta Society forum, Pintrest, and in Don Rawson "lists" for late flowering plants.

I have had this plant since the 2012 season. This season it put up what I consider a stunning flower and I wanted to share the photo.
